Thank
you to Rachel and Misty for commenting on Under
The Milky Way as I posted it in my LiveJournal during the course of this
month. :)
NaNoWriMo
ended for another year last night, and I’ve come away from my eighth attempt at
the challenge with my sixth win. My final, verified word count is 50,425 words.
However, there are no immediate plans to post it anywhere other than my
LiveJournal for the foreseeable future, as I greatly dislike how the story is
turning out and I do not wish to inflict it on anyone at this point in time.
Stepping
away from NaNoWriMo for the moment, I have fixed the index page of Follow You Into The Dark (having
discovered that it didn’t upload properly in the first instance), and have also
posted a slightly edited version of the first chapter. Additionally, I have
added two new stories to the Upcoming Fiction page – Alibi and Defenders Of
Anarchy. I’m also going to be participating in Becca’s Christmas Time
challenge for the second year running, and will be spending the next week or so
working on my submission.

Thank
you to Rachel and Katie for leaving comments in my LiveJournal. :)
I have
posted four new fics today – three one-shots (The First Drink Instinct, Mother
Mother, and Travelling Light),
and the first chapter of Follow You Into
The Dark. Two of the one-shots are from the Trick Or Treat challenge, with
the third being a sort of preview of a new story that will make its debut next
year. Follow You Into The Dark is the
final instalment of the Twin Souls Trilogy, and has been a very long time in
coming (two years, in fact). The entirety of FYITD has been planned out and
plotted, it’s only a matter of getting it written. Additionally, Sisyphus Rising has been posted here in
full, and is linked to the Completed Stories page.
I have
also made a start on my 2010 NaNoWriMo project, which for the time being will
be posted exclusively to my LiveJournal. It will make its debut here in
December.

I have
posted up to chapter 4 of Sisyphus Rising
in my LiveJournal, and am slowly posting it to Archive Of Our Own and The
Tightrope. I have four chapters and an epilogue left to post, and plan to put
the site for the story online in December.
Speaking
of NaNoWriMo, the site has reset for the 2010 season, and I have stepped up my
planning. Right now I’m taking part in this year’s Trick Or Treat hanfic
challenge, and have chosen to write two stories – I am treating the challenge
as an exercise in character development, and am setting both of my stories
during the timeline of my NaNovel for this year. It’s likely that I will post
them here once the challenge is over, as while I intend to use them in my
NaNovel they will be rewritten to fit my story. If you are participating in
NaNoWriMo, whether you’re new to the challenge or are a veteran, feel free to
drop by my profile at any time.
And
lastly, last Saturday marked one year since Tabula Rasa’s official opening. I
did have a new layout planned to mark the occasion, but real life and writing
has got in the way. I may instead have a surprise in store once NaNoWriMo is
over for the year.

The
prologue for my Boomerang Big Bang fic, Sisyphus
Rising, has been posted to my LiveJournal, and can be accessed from the
Completed Stories page. I plan to put up a new chapter every few days until the
whole story has been posted. Because I’ve linked to the story’s tag in my
journal, you will need to scroll to the bottom of the page in order to read
from the beginning. I haven’t yet finished the story’s website, but as soon as
it’s finished the story will be posted there. Thank you to Brittney, my artist,
and Bethany, the challenge’s organiser and my fanmixer, for creating some
wonderful accompaniments to the story.
I am
still planning my NaNoWriMo project – so far I have created a number of
character images, finished the skeleton of my outline and compiled the basis of
my soundtrack. The story’s title has officially been set as Under The Milky Way, thanks to nothing
more than a toss of the coin. It will be posted to my journal starting at the
beginning of November.

The
final two chapters of Many The Miles
have been posted. The story was completed last night – I’m very happy with the
way it has turned out. I’m hopeful that you will all like the last couple of
instalments – when you’re not yelling at me about the ending, that is (and
that’s all I’m going to say about it at this point :p). I don’t see myself
making a start on the sequel, which has now been officially titled Follow You Into The Dark, until December
at the absolute earliest, and it’s likely I won’t begin to post it until the
start of next year. This could change at any time, of course, but it will
depend wholly on my schedule and how well the ideas are flowing.
NaNoWriMo
kicks off in around six weeks’ time, and I have begun my planning – at this
point I’ve given it the very
tentative title of Under The Milky Way.
It’s quite possible that I will give it a different title at some point between
now and November, but I will decide that for certain when the time comes to
begin writing. Like I’ve been doing with The
Basement Tapes, I will be posting it chapter-by-chapter in my LiveJournal,
and will put up a proper layout in December.
Additionally,
I am still waiting to hear back from my editor in regards to Sisyphus Rising, but I am hopeful of
having the story submitted before the September 26 deadline.

Thank
you to Rachel for signing the guestbook and commenting in my LiveJournal, and
to Katie, Nadinne and Attie for also leaving comments in my LiveJournal. :)
Chapter
14 of Many The Miles has been posted
– there are now only two chapters left to be written and posted, and I am
confident of having the whole story completed by the time NaNoWriMo begins. I
will more than likely begin posting the final book in the Trilogy early next
year. I have also been posting one chapter of Many The Miles every two days in my LiveJournal, and will be doing
the same with its sequel once I’ve started writing.
In
Boomerang Big Bang news, I have finished the edit of Sisyphus Rising, and once I have received the edits that a friend
has been working on I’ll be submitting the final copy. Odds are it’ll be sent
in early next week. I’m very happy with the way it’s turned out, and am hopeful
that everyone will love reading it as much as I have in writing it. I’ll make a
note on the site Twitter when the prologue is up in my LiveJournal.

Thank
you to Misty for commenting on the newest chapter of The Basement Tapes in my LiveJournal. :)
Two
updates today, one of which is long
overdue – chapter 13 of Many The Miles,
and chapter 9 of The Basement Tapes
have both been posted. I apologise unreservedly for the long break between updates
of the latter story – my only excuse is that real life and a number of writing
challenges got in the way of me updating it before now. I doubt very much that
I’ll be able to finish it before NaNoWriMo kicks off for the year in slightly
more than two months’ time, but I will do my best.
I have
also received my artist and mixer assignments for Sisyphus Rising – I am very pleased with who was assigned my story,
and I look forward to seeing the art and mix that will accompany it. I’ve
started editing the story, and plan to have the final copy submitted soon.

Sisyphus Rising’s first draft is
officially complete as of yesterday morning. I ended up with 31,437 words over
eight chapters (along with a prologue and an epilogue), and will begin what I
imagine will be quite a lengthy editing process once I receive my art and
fanmix assignments. The story will be online in my LiveJournal in early
October, as soon as possible after it is officially posted at the Boomerang Big
Bang archive site, and I will link it once the prologue is posted. I intend to
post one instalment each afternoon, however I don’t plan to post it here until
all of the chapters are online in my LiveJournal.
Now
that I have finished the hardest part of the challenge, I am picking up my WIPs
once again, and have resumed work on The
Basement Tapes. I hope to have chapter 9 finished and posted by the end of
this month. In addition to this, I have updated all the character images for
the chaptered fics.
The
next update will likely come once I finish the next chapter of The Basement Tapes, so look out for that
in a couple of weeks. :)

Just a
very quick update today – I’ve been asked by my friend Bethany, who runs
PlaceToHide.net and the Boomerang Big Bang, to be August’s Author Spotlight on
PTH. My interview can be found here.
I’m
also still very hard at work on Sisyphus
Rising. The story is nearly finished at this point – since the last update
I’ve revised my projected word and chapter count, and am now planning for nine
chapters (eleven instalments including the prologue and epilogue) and around
35,000 words. This is mostly because I’ve had to eliminate a planned subplot
that, were I to include it, would hit my squick button pretty hard. I’m
considering an off-shoot story, however, and I may explore this subplot then. I
also intend to write a sequel. Right now the story is sitting at 23,440 words,
with six-and-a-half chapters finished – I’ve been in concert mode for the last
week, due to my excitement over seeing the band 30 Seconds To Mars live for the
first time, but with that now out of the way my writing should pick up the pace
quite a bit. I’m intending to have the first draft completely finished in a
couple of weeks’ time, after which I’ll begin the editing process.

Thank
you to Nicole for signing the guestbook. :)
While
I haven’t posted any new chapters, due to being wholly focused on my Boomerang
Big Bang project, I have updated a couple of other pages. My reading list has
gained an additional section, of stories I intend to read in the future. At the
moment this list is of those stories in the Boomerang challenge that I most
look forward to reading.
The
other updated page is the Awards page. Recently two of the founding members of
the HanficSprints
LiveJournal community created and posted awards for all who
participate in the sprints, and I was the recipient of the award for Craziest Imagination. Thanks to Renee
C. and Renee P. for creating the awards, and (along with Brittney and Jenna)
for making the community and the sprint chats so much fun to be a part of and
participate in.
As far
as the Boomerang Big Bang goes, I am making great progress on my project – at
the time of this update Sisyphus Rising
has 20,723 words written, with the prologue and first five chapters complete.
Taking into consideration that I return to college for semester 2 tomorrow
morning, I estimate that the first draft (due on August 26) will have 12
chapters, and will clock in at around 42,000 words. Updates on the progress of Sisyphus Rising are being posted once a
week to the site twitter, @tabularasacc. I look forward
to being able to post it in October – it will go in my LiveJournal in the first
instance, before being posted here. I also intend to archive it at The
Tightrope and at Archive of Our Own.
Until
next time…

Thanks
to Rachel for signing the guestbook. :)
The
HGC was an unmitigated disaster for me this year (I managed to complete just one-and-a-half
chapters), and as a result I have placed A
Kind Of Magic on an indefinte hiatus. I really don’t know when (if ever) I
will resume work on it, but I will do my best to finish it – even if this means
starting it over again. To make up for this, a new chapter of Many The Miles has been posted. There
are now just four chapters of Many The
Miles left to be written and posted, and I am confident of finishing the
story before the end of this year. With the Boomerang Big Bang challenge just
slightly less than three weeks away I have stepped up my preparations for Sisyphus Rising, and will be focusing
primarily on my new project from now until the end of August. The site will
likely not, therefore, see another update until around then, though this is subject
to change over the next few months.
I have
also brought back what was formerly a part of the story updates page, and have
given my upcoming projects a home on their own page. The new page can be
accessed via The Fiction.
And
lastly, in celebration of today’s release of Shout It Out, Tabula Rasa has (quite evidently) been given a
makeover. Like many other fans around the world I watched the livestream of the
album’s debut performance at the end of April (the beginning of May for me),
and I can confidently say that it is definitely my favourite of all of Hanson’s
albums. My copy of the album is on its way to me as of last Sunday (though I
already have most of its tracks on my computer, thanks to having preordered
it), and I am very much looking forward to making it a part of my CD library.
