I went back into the bathroom not long
after that to finish up straightening my hair. Usually I left it to its own
devices, but tonight was a special night – the first Hidden Place show in a
good few months. Therefore I wanted to make a decent impression. Not that I was
a groupie or anything, but somehow
word had gotten around that I had an ‘in’ with the band. With that task
complete, I ducked into my bedroom and started rummaging through my closet in
search of something to wear. I had quite the collection of clothing, ranging
from slinky cocktail dresses and tailored suits through to some of the
grungiest T-shirts and pairs of jeans seen this side of the Arkansas River. I
also had a vast collection of shoes matching all descriptions. What I wanted
for the show, though, was somewhere in the middle.
Please note: not only is Hiding
Out a collaborative effort between myself and four other writers, but it
was originally the brainchild of my friend and co-writer Molly. This story,
therefore, is not housed here at Tabula Rasa, but instead can be found at
Molly’s website.
